Format and Scoring for Corporate Team TennisGame ScoringThe scoring is no-ad. This means a game is won by the first player/team to win four points. If the game reaches deuce (3-3), the receiving player/team chooses which side of the court to receive from. In mixed doubles, the server must serve to the same gender at deuce (3-3). Set Scoring
A match consists of six separate 6-game no-ad sets and includes men's & women's singles, men's & women's doubles, and two mixed doubles. The first team to reach 6 games wins each no-ad set. A 9-point tiebreaker will be played at 5-5 in any set. On 2 courts, the order of play will be: women's & men's doubles, singles, mixed doubles Match Scoring and OvertimeThe winner of the match will be the team that wins the most games. After all games are totaled, if the trailing team wins the #6 mixed doubles set, the match is not over. Mixed doubles play continues until the leading team wins another game or the trailing team ties the score. If a tie occurs, a Super-Tiebreaker will be used to determine the winner of the match. SubstitutionsA team can, at any point, substitute a player of the same gender into a set for any reason. Once a player is replaced, he/she cannot return in that set. If a substitution occurs in doubles, the remaining player cannot change the side on which they receive or the service order. Substitutions are allowed in overtime (if a player has not already played in mixed doubles) and the Super-Tiebreaker. Once a player has come out of the mixed doubles set he/she cannot return in overtime as it is the same set. Warm-Up Time Warm-up is with your teammates. All players are allowed a 5-minute warm-up. Once play has begun, a 3-minute warm-up is allowed between sets. Service Order The Home team serves first in all doubles sets. The Visiting team serves first in the singles sets. Since the service order is predetermined, the receiving team selects the end of the court from which they will receive. Changing EndsAfter every 4 games, the players change ends. In the 9-point tiebreaker, players change ends only after the first 4 points. In the Super-Tiebreaker, players change ends only after the first 6 points. Service LetsWhen the serve hits the net and bounces within the service court, the ball is playable. In doubles, either player on the receiving side may return the ball after it bounces. If any player on the court calls "let" he/she loses the point. CoachingCoaching is allowed throughout the match as long as it does not interfere with continuous play. We encourage team members to stand along the court and support their team members. Default Rules Time: 15 minute team default = match default 36-0 15 minute player default = set default 6-0 InjuryIf a player defaults during a set and can not be substituted for, the score will be recorded with the games played standing with the opposing team receiving 6 games. Tiebreakers9 Point Tiebreaker A 9-point tiebreaker will be played at 5-5 in any set. The person who is next to serve begins the tiebreaker. Each player serves 2 points in succession starting from the deuce court. Players change sides after 4 points. The first team (person) to score 5 points wins the tiebreaker. If the score reaches 4-4, the person who served the 8th point serves the 9th (final) point. The receiver has the choice of side (except in mixed doubles where it must be gender to gender). The winner of the 9th point is the winner of the set. Super-TiebreakerIf the match enters into a Super-Tiebreaker, a coin toss will decide which team serves first. The Super-Tiebreaker should be treated as a new set and substitutions are allowed. Either player on the serving team may serve first. In addition, the court positions may be changed. Each player serves 2 points in succession starting from the deuce court. Players change sides after 6 points. The first team to score 7 points wins the Super-Tiebreaker. If the Super-Tiebreaker reaches 6-6, the person who served the 12th point will serve the 13th (final) point. Since this set is mixed doubles, the final serve will be gender to gender. The winner of the 13th point wins the Super-Tiebreaker and the match. All participants are responsible for adhering to the CORTA Code of Conduct.
